About A Bridge for the City

San Francisco, 2018.  Software developer Frank Broen is on the precipice of a new life.

He must choose between driving an innovative wearable tech venture he believes will transform the world for the better to market; and saving his marriage.

Frank's queer wife, Kelly Denneste, feels neglected and gives him an ultimatum so she can pursue her own dreams while supporting him to embrace his.  Forced to pick between what makes him feel safe versus alive, he must confront longstanding fears of insecurity and loneliness to make difficult choices.  Frank is also under observation by Lucy Flaks and her shadowy business partner Karl Dreper, who have deadly plans for him.

A serial killer operating in San Francisco gets closer to Frank with each murder.  The more Frank tries to resolve his problems, the more he falls into danger, as Lucy, who runs a black-market business that allows her to survive despite her abusive childhood, has Frank squarely in her sights and will stop at nothing.

As Frank focuses on his own personal growth and repairing his marriage, he unknowingly slips deeper into peril, becoming accidentally intimate with Lucy and Karl.  Frank is unaware that Kelly is on her own separate journey, reconnecting with a former lover and evaluating her life.  Oscar, Frank’s friend and colleague, is suspected of the serial killings because of his closeness to one of the victims.  Everything is falling apart for Frank, and he has no idea he’s the target of assassins Lucy and Karl ....

With a gimlet eye on the tech sector, A Bridge for the City explores the high price of transformation in 21st-century San Francisco.
